Protect Your Air Pump from Water Backflow

This Zolux check valve is installed on the air hose, between the pump and the air stone.
When the pump stops (power outage, malfunction), it prevents water from the aquarium from flowing back up the hose toward the pump.

This prevents damage to the pump and stops water from flowing out of the aquarium.
Fittings for Ø 4/6 mm tubing, transparent body, dimensions: Ø 1.5 cm x length 5.5 cm.

In short: install between the pump and the diffuser, ensuring the air flows in the correct direction.
A small safety measure to include with every air pump, especially if it is installed below the water level.

Description

A small but essential accessory

When an air pump is installed below the water level, water can flow back down the hose as soon as the air stops pushing.
The check valve allows air to flow in only one direction: toward the aquarium.
In the other direction, it closes and blocks the water.

Features

  • Type: Check valve for air lines
  • Compatibility: Ø 4/6 mm air tubing
  • Dimensions: Ø 1.5 cm x length 5.5 cm
  • Color: transparent
  • Brand: Zolux

Installation

1. Cut the air tubing between the pump and the diffuser.
2. Connect the pump side and the aquarium side to the valve’s ports, making sure the air flows in the correct direction.
3. Turn on the pump: bubbles should flow normally from the diffuser.

ℹ️ Good to Know

If no bubbles come out after installation, the check valve is likely installed upside down: flip it over.
It’s best to install it out of the water, near the aquarium, so you can check it easily.

⭐ Tip from the team: Install a check valve on every air pump, even if it’s mounted high up—it’s a safety measure that costs almost nothing compared to the price of a pump or water damage.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Where should the check valve be placed?

On the air hose, between the pump and the diffuser, preferably near the aquarium and out of the water.

Does the check valve reduce the air flow?

It creates slight resistance to the flow of air, without interfering with the bubbling action of a standard air pump.

Is the tubing included?

No, the check valve fits a standard Ø 4/6 mm air tube, sold separately.
