This genuine Hayward winterizing plug screws into a 1"1/2 threaded pool discharge nozzle to seal it for the winter, once the water level has been lowered or the system has been protected against freezing. It comes with a flat gasket.

Introduction to the SP1022B Winterization Plug

During winterization, the water level is often lowered below the discharge nozzles, and the pipes are drained. The winterization plug screws into the nozzle after the nozzle cap has been removed; it seals the pipe and prevents water from re-entering.

The SP1022B model has a flat head and a short thread (8 mm). It is sealed by a flat gasket, which is included.

ℹ️ Good to Know

There is a version with a long thread (33 mm) and an O-ring: part no. SP1022CE. Before ordering, compare the thread length of your old cap (8 mm for the SP1022B) and its diameter (Ø 46 mm).

⭐ Tip from the team

Make sure the O-ring is properly seated and clean before screwing it in, and tighten it by hand: over-tightening can damage the nozzle’s threads. In the spring, store the cap with its O-ring for the following winter.
