Why use fine filter wool?
Foam and coarse materials trap large debris but allow suspended particles that cloud the water to pass through.
Fine cotton wool acts as a final mechanical barrier: the water comes out clear, and the biological media placed downstream of it clog less quickly.
Clogged filter wool slows down the filter’s flow rate: this is a sign that it needs to be replaced.
